WORCESTER-Donald F. Gleason, 85, of Worcester, passed away in his home on March 17, 2011. He leaves his wife Helen L. (Earley) Gleason to whom he was married for 63 years; two sons, Neil Gleason and his wife Linda of Clearwater, FL and Brian Gleason of Cypress, CA. He also leaves three grandchildren, Michael Gleason and his wife Cynthia of Sutton, Deana Tata and her husband Peter of Shrewsbury and Amy Braun and her husband Volker of Holden; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gianna, Ilona, Hayden and Ryan; a sister Barbara Cummings of Manchester, NH; a brother David Gleason and his wife Louise of Worcester; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Sullivan and a brother John Gleason.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John D. and Eva (Petit) Gleason. Donald was a communicant at St. Catherine of Sweden Church, now Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Parish for 58 years where he served on the church council and president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He served in the US Navy for four years during World War II, enlisting directly after the Pearl Harbor attack. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop O'Reilly Assembly. Donald was employed at Mass Electric Co., now National Grid for 38 years, retiring in 1988.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 22 from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street with a Mass at 10 AM in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine Parish, 600 Cambridge Street.
