WORCESTER-Donald H. Patnod, 88, of Worcester passed away Saturday, November 30 at the Overlook Healthcare Center.

His wife of 39 years, Judith M. (Goodwin) Patnod passed away in 2010. He leaves seven children, Mindy Patnod of Worcester, Earl Patnod of Worcester, Bridget Flanagan and her husband, David of Ware, David Patnod of Worcester, Denise Patnod of Cambridge, Diane Mader and her husband, Greg of California and Debra Perrone and her husband, Vincent of Boylston; a brother, Richard Patnod of Worcester; two sisters, Carol Fazio of Worcester and Patricia Cestodio of West Boylston; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his son-in-law, Antonio Hernandez of Worcester and nieces and nephews. Three brothers, David, William and Robert predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Earle and Beatrice (Vickstrom) Patnod. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard, the U.S.S. Leyte during the Korean War.

Don worked for National Envelope Company for many years, prior to that he worked for the Worcester Envelope Company. He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church.

Don was a member of Boylston Lodge, West Boylston and Morning Star Lodge of Worcester, having taken his Masonic Degrees in Athelstan Lodge of Worcester. He was a 32 Degree Mason with the Valley of Worcester Scottish Rite since 1971 and served on the Stage Committee. Don was a member of Eureka Royal Arch Chapter since 1975, and served four separate terms as High Priest, a member of Massachusetts Convention of High Priests and was an Honorary member of Doric Royal Arch Chapter, Southbridge. Don was a member of Hiram Council since 1976, and was Illustrious Master in 1994 and a member of the Massachusetts Council of Thrice Illustrious Masters. Don was a member of Worcester County Commandry #5 since 1976, and served three terms as Commander and then became the Recorder for 24 years before retiring in 2011. Don was also a member of the Shriners Aleppo Lodge.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially warm summer days at Smugglers Beach in Yarmouth. He also loved to dance and to play cards with family and friends.

Don loved all his children and grandchildren very much and was proud of them. He will be deeply and sadly missed by his granddaughter, Olivia Judith and grandson, Anthony Donald who loved visiting "Papa" and bringing him donuts.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all his "favorite" staff people at Overlook for loving and caring for him, like family.
Visiting Hours to Celebrate the Life of Donald will be held Wednesday, December 4 at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, from 4 to 7pm with a Masonic Service to be Conducted by members of the Boylston and Morning Star Lodge at 6:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.donate.lovetotherescue.org.
