WORCESTER-Donald R. "Bips" Swaney, 76, of Worcester died Monday, Dec. 4 at home after an illness. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Charlotte A. (Melander) Swaney, two daughters, Norma A. L'Ecuyer, wife of Robert of Royalston and Mary I. Swaney of Athol, two grandchildren, Thomas and Tammy L'Ecuyer, three great grandchildren, Christopher, Krystina and Jackson L'Ecuyer, nephews and nieces. A son, Donald H. Swaney predeceased him in 1996.
He was born in Worcester, son of Everett and Irene (Boucher) Swaney and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Mr. Swaney worked at National Envelope for 20 years retiring in 1995 and prior to that worked at A&P Tea Company for 22 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, a longtime member of the English Social Club and enjoyed playing pitch and pool.
>p>The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 8 from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., with a service at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
