Emma Doris Quiros Colon 98, Passed away peacefully at home on May 30th 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Doris was born on May 8, 1924 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to Marcil Ortiz-Quiros and Lenora Cintron-Quiros.
Doris was predeceased by her Husband Luis Merced Colon in 1994 and her daughter Arlene Colon in 2021. Doris is survived by her children, Alma Rivera, Carmen Colon and Javier Colon and his wife, Yolanda, all living in Worcester. Doris had 16 grandchildren 44 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Luz Maria Garay, Jenny Rodriquez and Raul Quiros all of New York.
Doris was known for her delicious Puerto Rican cuisine, her pumpkin fritas were a favorite of all her grandchildren. She loved dancing to salsa while she cooked, trips to Foxwoods Casino and taking care of her mini garden at home. Doris often took daily walks to play her numbers. Whenever anyone visited her you could look up and see her waving from her 6th floor window. Mami and Abuela as she was affectionately called will be sorely missed but we are forever grateful for the 98 years she was in our presence.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, June 6th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 7th at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 38 High St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
