Dorothea R. "Doris" (Teller) McKiernan, 81, of West Boylston, formerly of Auburn and Worcester passed away Saturday, December 28 in Notre Dame Long Term Care.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, John J. "Tucky" McKiernan; two daughters, Christine McKiernan and her husband, Kevin McAllister and their daughters, Siobhan and Aileen of South Hadley and Colleen McKiernan of Somerville and a brother, Fritz Teller and his wife, Irmchen Teller and a sister in law, Helga Teller all of Magdeburg, Germany. A brother Uli Teller predeceased her. She was born in Blumenau, County Kreuzburg, Germany, daughter of Ulrich and Elfrieda (Kalok) Teller and escaped East Germany at the age of 16 and lived in Switzerland, Paris, and London before coming to the United States. This was a defining moment to Doris and became part of her life story.
Doris met her husband at her first day at work at Chase Paper Company in Worcester. They married in 1965 and shortly thereafter Tucky joined the Worcester Fire Department where he worked for 32 years. They raised their daughters in Worcester and their home was the site of many family gatherings. After retirement, they spent winters in Florida playing golf and entertaining friends. Doris will be greatly missed by many friends and her family, especially her husband.
Visiting Hours are Monday, December 30 from 4 to 7pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 31 at 11am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council, Christmas Fund, PO Box 20404 West Side Station, Worcester, 01602 or the Worcester Fire Department Scholarship Fund, c/o the Worcester Fire Dept.
