WORCESTER: Dorothy S. (Larson) Corrigan, 97, of Worcester, passed away peacefully, June 20, 2025, surrounded by her cherished family and close friends.
Born on January 14, 1928, in Worcester, Dorothy was the youngest of eleven children born to Swedish immigrants, Carl and Selma Larson. Growing up in a large and loving household, she carried out the values of family, resilience, and warmth throughout her life.
After graduating from Commerce High School, Dorothy began her career as a bookkeeper at the Norton Company. She later devoted herself fully to raising her family, a role she embraced with grace and deep affection.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late John Corrigan, co-owner of the former Krizik & Corrigan, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing in 1992.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Maureen Rourke and her husband Stephen of Naples, FL; Patty Corrigan and Lynn Corrigan of Mashpee, MA; and Charles Corrigan and his partner Laurie of Worcester, MA. Known affectionately as Mormor—the Swedish word for grandmother—Dorothy was a guiding light in the lives of her grandchildren: Thomas Rourke (wife Kaylea), Steve Rourke (wife Sara), Molly Rourke, and Dillon Corrigan. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Stella, Jameson, Davis, and Eilee Rourke, each of whom brought her immense joy. Dorothy is also survived by her brothers, Carl and Everett Larson.
A woman of many interests, Dorothy had a lifelong passion for golf and was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton. She always welcomed intellectual conversations. Her greatest happiness, however, was found during the 50 summers she spent at Popponesset Beach, Cape Cod, where she created cherished traditions with family and friends.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Laurentide at Mashpee Commons for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided for our Mom while there and especially in her final days. Their kindness, dedication and support will never be forgotten.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10 until 11:30AM, with a Funeral Service at 11:30AM in the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
