Dorothy M. (Strozina) Spellane, 90, died Monday, March 21, in St. Mary's Health Care Center.Her husband John J. Spellane died in 1987. She leaves two sons, Michael J. Spellane and his wife Gail of Fitchburg, and John M. Spellane and his wife Cindy of Holden; a daughter, Janice M. Spellane of Worcester. Her son Robert P. Spellane died in 1995. She also leaves her sister Grace O'Conner of Worcester and her brothers Edward Strozina of Leicester and Richard Strozina of Auburn. Four brothers, Albert, Harold, Robert, and Raymond predeceased her. She leaves eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was born October 28, 1914 in Providence RI, daughter of Alexander and Margaret (Foley) Strozina. She was raised in Worcester and lived here most of her life. She attended Commerce High School. She enjoyed playing the piano and had a talent for playing any song requested by ear.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 23, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Wednesday, March 23, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National Education for Assistance Dog Services, PO Box 213 West Boylston, MA 01583.
