WEST BOYLSTON – Dr. Robert J. Tashjian, 95, passed away Tuesday, January 12 in the St. Francis Home.

Doctor Tashjian was born in Worcester on February 4, 1930 son of Peter and Nora (Surabian) Tashjian. He received his master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. He lived in Worcester until his family moved to West Boylston and built their home on Prospect Street.

Dr. Tashjian leaves his longtime friend, Chief Dennis Minnich and his adopted grandchild, Dennis Minnich, Jr. who helped care for the horses and shared his love of animals.

Dr. Robert J. Tashjian was a clinical Veterinarian who owned and operated the former Robert J. Tashjian V.M.D. Animal Medical Center. Along with his sister, Doctor Helen E. Tashjian and his brother, Edward Peter Tashjian who both predeceased him, they all worked on the family farm, Malden Brook Farm, which was recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture in 2000 as a Massachusetts Century Family Farm. They were well known for their various horses’ programs. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
