West Boylston
E. Arthur Bonci 82, of 185 Worcester St. died Sunday, March 21. in the Sterling Healthcare Center, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Josephine U. (Belacki) Bonci; a daughter, Jane E. Maddalena, wife of James A. Maddalena of West Boylston; a sister, Eva Ford of Hadley; three grandchildren, Craig Maddalena of Hopedale, Paul M. Maddalena of Worcester and Kristin L. DeMarco of Salem, NH; two great-grandchildren, Jacob C. and Taylor L. Maddalena of Hopedale; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Nan Bonci and Felix Bonci and three sisters, Emma Battistelli, Nora Finegan and Edith Butler all predeceased him. He was born in West Boylston, son of Arsenio and Maria (DeSanti) Bonci. He graduated from West Boylston High School.
Mr. Bonci was part owner of Malden Hill Dairy and an Apple Orchard both in West Boylston for many years. He also served on the West Boylston Water District, as Superintendent from 1965 to 1986 and Treasurer and Commissioner from 1987 to 1998 and was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Town.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the New England Water Works Assoc., Mass. Water Works Assoc., West Boylston Civic Club, and a past member of the Lions Club. Arthur sponsored several West Boylston Little League Teams and was an avid Hockey Fan.
A Funeral will be held Thursday, March 25, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Calling Hours are Wednesday, March 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. or West Boylston Fire and Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester St. both West Boylston 01583.
