WORCESTER-Earl T. Babineau, 84, died Sunday, January 7 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Mr. Babineau leaves his wife of 55 years, Rita M. (Landry) Babineau; two sons, E. Thomas Babineau of Aventura, FL and Mark Babineau of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three daughters, Anne Courchaine of Worcester, Theresa Laskowski of Worcester and Elaine Smith of Hubbardston; three brothers, Rev. Alexis Babineau A.A. of Assumption College, Raymond Babineau of Belchertown and Joseph Babineau in Florida; two sisters, Sr. Ruth Babineau, D.H.S. of Putnam, CT and Marguerite Lussier of Ballston Spa, NY; eight grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Jeannette Haffty and Una Kasper predeceased him.

Mr. Babineau was born in Palmer, MA, son of Arthur and Alexina (Plouffe) Babineau and resided in Worcester for many years. He graduated from Worcester State College and earned a Masters Degree from Fitchburg State College. He was a teacher of mathematics at Charlton Jr./Sr. High School and Shrewsbury Jr./Sr. High School. He retired from teaching in 1986 but continued as a substitute teacher around Worcester. In 1999 Mr. Babineau served as a monitor at West Boylston Middle High School up until last month. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish for over 50 years where he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 10, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 W. Boylston St., W. Boylston with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Christopher's Church, 950 W. Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday, January 9 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
