Edgar A. Whitcomb

Edgar A. Whitcomb, 75, of 4 Yale St., died Monday, January 14, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Dorothy M. (McCann) Whitcomb, two daughters, April W. Gustafson of Boylston and Stephanie Lawrence of Exeter, NH; a brother, Ralph Whitcomb of Pocasset; two sisters, Jane Leslie of Sterling and June Marvin of Huntsville, AL; two grandsons and several nephews and nieces. He was born in West Boylston, son of Ralph O. and Alta M. (Walker) Whitcomb. He graduated from West Boylston Schools.
Mr. Whitcomb worked for the West Boylston Postal Service for 40 years, serving as the Post Master for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Odd Fellows, the Boylston Lodge of Masons and was the founder and president of the West Boylston Historical Society.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 17, at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 26 Central St. Burial will be in the spring in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. in FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Boylston Historical Society, 65 Worcester St., West Boylston, 01583.
