Edna K. Healey "The Best Grandmother in the World" 1904-2006
Edna K. Healey, beloved Gram of 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, May 11. She is survived be her five grandchildren-Cheryl M. Oliveri and her husband Steve, of Hubbardston, her best friends and roommates for many years; Denise A. Ball of Westboro; Fred Rocha and his wife Heather of Worcester; Kristine Rocha-Flynn of Florida and Peter J. Rocha of Worcester. Her husband John F. Healey and her daughter, Dorothy A. Healey-Rocha predeceased her.
Edna may not have been famous or rich, but she was rare and valuable-a kind, compassionate human being, who lived by the adage, "treat others as you would like to be treated." She took care of her grandchildren after their mother's death, and her home was always the center of their worlds.
Edna has three simple guidelines for life: 1) God doesn't care what church you go to, it's how you live for life that counts; 2) Never go to someone's house without a hostess/host gift; and, 3) What goes around, comes around.
She loved to laugh, smoke cigarettes (her vice) and to bake. She was pure soul, and, today, the world is worse off without her.
Edna's family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Magnolia Court at the Life Care Center in Auburn, including doctor Nan, nurses A.J., Eileen, Jackie, Janice, Elly, Annie, Noreen; the fabulous nurses aides, the fun (and patient) activities staff, and of course, Julius Abu ("the Daddy") and Bill Carey ("the Husband"). You all made a difference in Edna's qualitiy of life!
To honor Edna's memory, her family asks that you perform a random act of kindness today. Or, consider making contributions to the Edna K. Healey Nursing Education Scholarship, c/o the Life Care Center of Auburn, 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn, MA 01501. Edna always wanted to be a nurse and it would bring her joy to have her memory help someone achieve ther dream.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester is handling arrangements. Rest well, Gram. You will be missed every day!
