Edward S. Jeznach

d. November 1, 2008

WORCESTER-Edward S. Jeznach, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 1. Ed's beloved spouse, Marie A. (Healey) predeceased him on October 15, 2006. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. Ed leaves his beloved family, Edward J. Jeznach of Auburn, Mary Verling of Cranston, RI, Kathleen Foley of Mansfield, Terri Serra of Northboro and their spouses and grandchildren.

Eddie was the son of Francesca and Stanley Jeznach and was born on January 18, 1922. He lived in Worcester his entire life. Eddie has several surviving brothers and sisters and their spouses, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Eddie was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Stephen's Church in Worcester.

Eddie attended St. Mary's high School and served for over 3 years in the South Pacific as a radio technician aboard the U.S.S. Independence during WW II. During battles he lost several shipmates and friends. He never forgot them and he was keenly aware of the many challenges facing our current military families today. At the end of the war, Eddie's ship was alongside the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay and he witnessed the Japanese surrender to the United States, a historical moment in time.

Eddie worked at Crompton and Knowles for over 40 years and was a very respected foreman and friend to all that knew him. Eddie had many interest including current economic events, politics, New England sports teams, etc. He was fully engaged in life and enjoyed sharing his past times with family and friends.

To all that knew Eddie his generosity, strength, optimism, kindness, wisdom, friendship and humor will remain with us. We know he is at peace and we will continue to remember him and his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers. The family would like to thank all who cared for Eddie during his illness including the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent Hospital.
