WORCESTER: Edward P. McMahon, 99, World War II Veteran, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, in his home. His beloved wife of 60 years, Claire M. (Fitzgibbons) McMahon, passed away in 2016.
He is survived by five children, Mary Chappell and her husband, Steven, Edward McMahon and his wife, Teresa, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Wayne, Timothy McMahon and his wife, Denise, and Terrence McMahon; eight grandchildren; Ryan and Emily McMahon, Joshua and Christopher Johnson, Patrick and Katie McMahon and Kiley and Aislinn McMahon; six great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his infant son, Gerry; a daughter in law, Thanda McMahon; three sisters, Mary Prunier, Ellen Carlson, Lillian Scavone, and two brothers, William and John McMahon.
Ed was born in Worcester, son of the late Mary (McGuirk) McMahon. He was employed at the New England Telephone Co., retiring as an equipment installation supervisor. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed US History, following politics, as well as cooking. He was an avid New England sport fan. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
The Funeral will be held on Thursday, February 12th, from Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 11th from 4 until 7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Salvation Army, 640 Main St., Worcester, MA 01608.
