Worcester-Edward H. Steele 87, of Whipple St. died Tuesday, May 4, in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Betty L. (Carlson) Steele; 3 daughters, Karen E. Steele of Auburn, Sally A. wife of Douglas P. Davini of Worcester and Lori wife of John Chernisky of W. Springfield; a sister, Ruth Burgoyne of Worcester; and two grandchildren, Douglas P Davini II and Danielle Steele Davini both of Worcester.

He was born in Worcester, son of Edward J. and Freda J. (Johanson) Steele and lived here all his life. He graduated from North High School and was an Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Steele was a superintendent of shipping and traffic at the U.S. Steel Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was a 32nd degree mason of the Guiding Lights Lodge A.F. & A.M. Edward was a lifelong member of the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church and it's choir. He also enjoyed carpentry, gardening and was an avid sports fan.

The Funeral will be Friday, May 7, at 11.a.m. in Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. Worcester 01607. LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St. is directing arrangements.
