AUBURN- Edwin W. "Ted" Layte, 76, of Auburn, formerly of Worcester died Thursday, July 5th in Webster Manor Nursing Center. His wife Shirley (Parmenter) Layte died in 1997. He leaves three sons, David Layte of Oxford, Richard Layte of Paxton and Robert Layte of Webster, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Sidney M. and Minnie (Menchinton) Layte and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Ted worked at St. Vincent Hospital for many years. He was a member of St. Michael's-on-the-Heights Church. He was also a life member of the Main South American Legion Post %23341 and the Worcester Lodge of Elks.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 9th in St. Michael's-on-the-Heights Church, 340 Burncoat Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday, July 8 from 2:00-4:00 PM in Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Main South American Legion Post %23341 Baseball Team, 1023 Main St., Worc, MA 01603.
