Eero A. Aijala, Jr.

  Dr.  Eero A. Aijala, Jr., 87, passed away on Sunday, August 11th, at UMass Memorial University Hospital after battling an illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joyce E. (Sherman) Aijala, and his children: Karen M. Aijala of Worcester, Eric J. Aijala and his wife Lisa from Burbank, CA, Michael K. Aijala and his wife Lisa from Pottstown, PA, and Kristen R. Aijala and her partner Tony from Worcester. Additionally, he is survived by his stepchildren Andrew J. Senior of Paxton and Kelly G. Senior of Holden, his brother Robert M. Aijala and his wife Beverly of Cape Cod and Florida, cousins Christine Avila of Burlington and June Sears of Fitchburg, nine grandchildren: Dana, Benjamin, Samuel, Deon, Ava, Brooke, Sarah, Danielle & Gwen and several nieces and nephews.

  Eero was born in Worcester to Eero A. and Amelia M. (DaCosta) Aijala. He was a graduate of North High School and Tufts University School of Dentistry. Eero served his country in the United States Army and later established a successful dental practice in West Boylston where he dedicated 55 years helping his patients. His compassion extended beyond his practice, as he took pride in assisting underprivileged patients, valuing each individual under his care. Eero had a passion for antique cars and model trains acquiring collections over the years.  He was also a skilled weapons expert taking pride in his collection. He was a devoted fan of  all things Disney. 

  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Saturday, August 17th at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston, from 1:00-4:00 PM. Burial will be private in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Eero will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family and community.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
