Eileen F. (Walsh) Granger, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Goddard House, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Worcester on June 3, 1943, she was the cherished daughter of the late Hannan M. (Healy) and Nicholas J. Walsh. Eileen was a proud graduate of St. Peter-Marian High School and Salter Secretarial School.
Eileen began her career as an executive assistant at Thom McAn before making the decision to devote her life to what mattered most to her — her family. She lovingly dedicated herself to raising her daughter and helping care for her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and the many children of close family friends who were fortunate to know her warmth, kindness, and steady presence.
An avid reader with a joyful spirit, Eileen found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and treasured the experiences she shared with those she loved. She had a lifelong love for Disney and delighted in visiting often, creating lasting memories along the way. Her Irish heritage held a special place in her heart, and she deeply cherished her many trips to Ireland.
Among Eileen’s greatest joys was bringing her daughter to Irish step dancing classes, where she formed lifelong friendships with the other families. The laughter, celebrations, and gatherings that followed became some of her fondest memories.
Eileen shared a beautiful and devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Henry “Skip” Granger, who passed away in 2003. He was the love of her life, and together they shared a bond rooted in deep love, loyalty, and devotion that endured throughout the years.
She leaves behind many who will miss her dearly, including her daughter, Jill N. (Granger) Laperle and her husband, Jeffrey; her cherished grandchildren, Riley and Aidan; her sister, Kathleen (Walsh) Scully of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family in Ireland. She was also blessed to be a great-grandaunt to Jace, Cora, and Maeve. In addition to her husband and parents, Eileen was predeceased by her brother, Father James Walsh.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Eileen’s life during a visiting hour on Monday, May 18, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John’s Catholic Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
