Elaine L. Salmonsen

DOUGLAS-Mrs. Elaine (Emanuelson) Salmonsen, a resident of Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25 2009. Previously, she had been a longtime resident on Lake Manchaug in Douglas, Ma. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Salmonsen was the wife of the late Lorance "Bucky" Salmonsen. She is survived by her two sons, Lance Salmonsen of Uxbridge and Glen Salmonsen of Douglas, 5 granddaughters and 3 great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Lois King, predeceased her.

Born in Worcester, Mass on February 19, 1922, she was the daughter of Anders "Gus" Emanuelson and Lillian (Berglund) Emanuelson. Her life was centered around her family and her church. A lifelong member of Quinsigamond United Methodist church in Worcester, Mrs. Salmonsen was deeply involved in the church. She served her Christian community in many ways. She loved to sing and was a soprano singer and soloist both in her church and in the community. She sang in the choir for more than 50 years. She had a passion for music and was an accomplished pianist.

Her greatest satisfaction was that of housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family was central in the day to day life of Mrs. Salmonsen. She was very proud of her family, especially her grand children and great grandchildren. During World War II, Mrs. Salmonsen volunteered at area hospitals. She also worked at American Steel and Wire Company which was located in Quinsigamond Village.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the care givers in the Alzheimer's unit at Beaumont nursing home for the wonderful care given Elaine during her time there.

Visiting hours will be Friday October 30 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., Worcester. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 10:00 AM at Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. Worcester. Interment will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Salmonsen's name to Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. Worcester, Ma. 01607.
