WORCESTER
Eleanor Elizabeth (Gonyea) Reynolds, 89, of Worcester was called to be with God on July 1 in her home, surrounded by her family members.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 69 years, Leo J. Reynolds: four daughters, Lynda B. Blanchette of Leicester, Eleanor F. Doherty and her husband John of Charlton, Deborah L. Mero and her husband Bryan of Brimfield and Mary C. Allain and her husband Reggie of Worcester; a son in law, Bradman R. Turner of Millbury; two sisters, Edith MacDonald of Boylston and Irene Holt of Cordova, TN; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Two daughters, Carol E. Zuidema and Elizabeth A. Turner; a sister, Loretta Maskie; two brothers, Thomas Goynea and Robert Goynea and a step father, Frank Dudonis, predeceased her. She was born on March 19, 1920 in Worcester, daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Gordon) Gonyea and lived in Worcester her whole life. She attended Gates Lane Elementary School and Worcester Vocational School.
Eleanor retired from Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in 1982. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, where she was active member of the former mothers club and the sodality for many years. She was an active member of the Central Mass Chapter of the Ex-POW, where she was the chapter historian. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 3, from Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting Hours are Thursday, July 2, from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
