WORCESTER
Elizabeth K. Clifford, 63, of Worcester died Wednesday., March 4, after an illness.
She leaves her brothers, Timothy (Ted) and his companion Ellie Arsenault of Hopkinton and Jack and his wife, Susan of Castle Rock, CO; her niece, Allison Clifford and her husband, Scott Aronson of Silver Spring, MD; her closest friends, Susan Cook, Mary Haberstroh, Mary Gadaire, Barbara and Betsy Drake all of Worcester. Her twin sister, Mary, died in October, 2007.
Betty was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Timothy and Katherine (Riordan) Clifford, and lived here all her life. Betty graduated from St. Peter Central Catholic High School, received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Anna Maria College and her M.ED from Worcester State College. Betty retired last June after 41 years of teaching in the Worcester Public Schools. She taught at Tatnuck, May Street, and for the past 20 years, at Chandler Magnet School. Betty was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and taught CCD there for many years. She was also a member of the Anna Maria College Alumni Council and was honored as an "Outstanding Alumna" by the college.
Betty loved her faith, her family, her friends, her students, her running, her Red Sox and her dog, Mona. Her life was marked by great kindness, generosity and wit. She will be deeply missed.
The funeral will be held Sat., March 7, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Fri., March. 6, from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
