WORCESTER-Elizabeth A. (Tivnan) Deely, 79, of 23 Sherer Trail, formerly of Warner Robins, GA, Alexandria, VA and Boynton Beach, FL, died Tuesday, September 26 at home after an illness surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 57 years, Colonel Joseph C. Deely, USAF, Retired, five daughters; Martha Ann Cieszynski and her husband Romuald of Worcester, Rosemary Stadie and her husband Anthony of Woodbridge, VA, Ann-Marie Deely-Carver of Boynton Beach, FL, Elizabeth Jean Armstrong and her husband Jack of Woodbridge, VA and Joan Patrice Deely of Worcester, three sons; Joseph Brian Deely of Alexandria, VA, Michael Colman Deely and his wife Kymberly of Camden, DE and Christopher John Deely of Boynton Beach, FL, seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Edmund L. Tivnan and Eugene F. Tivnan, both of Worcester, two sisters, Nancy I. Pedersen of Shrewsbury and Mary Jane Kelley of Ocala, FL, many nephews and nieces. A brother Joseph F. Tivnan predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Joseph F. and Beatrice I. (Miller) Tivnan, graduated from Classical High School and Saint Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. Mrs. Deely was a registered nurse for many years working with Worcester District Nurses, Saint Vincent Hospital and also served as a private duty nurse. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and will always be remembered as a devoted caregiver to family members and friends during times of need. She was a member of Saint Vincent Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, Reserve Officer's Wives Club and spent many years as a volunteer on the Warner Robins Air Force Base.
The funeral will be held on Friday, September 29 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Alexandria, VA on Friday, October 13 at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, September 28 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
