Ellen E. Courtney

WORCESTER-Ellen E. (Eaton) Courtney, 96, died Friday, Feb. 2 surrounded by her family. Her husband of 60 years, Francis X. Courtney died in 2002. She leaves four daughters, Eileen M. Rafferty of Worcester, Susan E. Enman of Holden, Kathleen M. Courtney of Worcester, Anne M. Olivo of Brunswick, ME; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, among them Lee O'Leary of Worcester. A daughter, Martha E. Courtney died in 1978.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of George M. and Anastasia (Dumphy) Eaton and graduated from North High School and Worcester State Teachers College. Ellen worked at Thorndyke Road School for several years and then worked as a secretary for the Director of Nursing at Hahnemann Hospital for 15 years retiring in 1976.

The funeral will be Monday, Feb. 5 from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St., W. Boylston with a Mass at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Feb. 4 from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home.
