Elsie M. (Goodale) Scales 85, of the Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, formerly of Tobin Lane died Friday (Nov.1) at home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 62 years, Fred L. Scales, three sons, Edward H. Scales of Franklin, VT, Malcom P. Scales of Sterling, and Robert G. Scales of the Oakdale section of West Boylston, a brother, Norman Goodale of the Oakdale secton of West Boylston, two sisters, Grace Moore of Claremont, NH and Mildred Rayworth of Hopedale, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. A sister Doris Almstrom died in 1948. She was born in Boston, daughter of Mason E. and Lena F. (Gehling) Goodale and has lived in Oakdale all her life.

She was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church and its Choir. She volunteered at the Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and at various Red Cross Blood Banks.

The Memorial Service will be held Thursday (Nov7) at 11a.m. Oakdale United Methodist Church 15 North Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in High Plains Cemetery. There are no calling hours.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Oakdale United Methodist Church, Handicap Access Fund, 15 North Main St. West Boylston 01583. Fay Brothers Funeral Home (www.faybrothers.com) 1 West Boylston St. is directing arrangements.
