Ethel M. Almstrom

WEST BOYLSTON- Ethel M. "Mo" (Brackett) Almstrom, 86, of 241 Laurel St., died Friday, Aug. 8, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

Her husband of 60 years, Wilbur A. "Reggie" Almstrom, died in 2001. She leaves a son, Wayne S. Almstrom of West Boylston; a daughter, Nancy A. Barakian of West Boylston; a sister, Janet L. Buck of West Boylston; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Calvin R. Brackett, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Calvin and Marie (Carlquist) Brackett, and lived 76 years in the Oakdale section of West Boylston. She graduated from West Boylston High School.

Mrs. Almstrom was a bookkeeper at Heald Machine and then a baker at Major Edwards School before retiring. She was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church and a member and past president of its Ladies Social Circle. She was a former member of West Boylston Fire Department Auxiliary and a volunteer at Oakdale Nursing Home. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, bird watching, cooking, baking and cake decorating.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main St. Burial will be in High Plains Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Boylston Fire Association, 39 Worcester St.; or to Oakdale United Methodist Church Handicap Access Fund, 15 North Main St., both West Boylston, MA 01583.
