Ethel-Mary Pelley of Maple Street, West Boylston passed away Sunday, July 8th, 2007. She leaves her beloved niece Helen E. DeMarco with whom she lived. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen R. DeMarco of West Boylston and Elizabeth V. Johnson of Northboro. She also leaves her nieces Francine E. (Johnson) Petersen and her husband James of Wrentham, her nephew Gene R. Johnson and his wife Mary of Leominster, and her niece Nancy C. (Johnson) Semienko and her husband George of Franklin. She leaves many loving grand nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Petersen of Wrentham, Patrick, Aaron, Nicholas, and Leigh Johnson of Leominster.

Ethel-Mary was born February 15, 1916 in Worcester, MA, daughter of Julianna M. (Gaudette) and Raymond R. Pelley. She has resided in West Boylston since 1948. She attended St. Paul's Elementary and graduated from Commerce High. Throughout her working career she continued her education. Ethel-Mary was office manager at John Bath and was Industrial Relations and Personnel Manager for 25 years at Federal -Mogul Vellumoid. She retired in 1981.

During her life she was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the New England Office Managers Association and Worcester Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was a charter member and past president of Our Lady of Good Counsel Women's Club, a member and treasurer of the Woman's Club of West Boylston, a member of the former Worcester Diocese of Catholic Women-International Relations, a member of the Ecumenical group of West Boylston, a member of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and taught freshman Christian Doctrine at Our Lady of Good Counsel for ten years. During World War II she was a member of the U.S. Massachusetts Women Defense Corp.

In her spare time she was an accomplished seamstress, loved traveling and reading, enjoyed attending plays and musicals and gardening. She had a love of all animals especially her two cats, Patches and Snickers.


Family and Friends are invited to a graveside service for Ethel-Mary on Fri. July 13, at 9:45 AM in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neady Cats, P.O.
