WORCESTER-Evelyn Maxine Padgett-Niles "Nanny", 77, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital. Evelyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was born and raised in Six, West Virginia, daughter of Woodrow Padgett, Sr. and Helen (Baylor) Padgett and has lived in Worcester since 1972. Evelyn was a daycare provider for Rainbow Child Development Center for over 30 years and she touched the lives of so many children and families throughout her career.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Clarence H. Niles; two children, Natasha Padgett of Worcester Carl A. Moore of Atlanta, GA, and predeceased by a daughter Lula R. Owens. Five beautiful grandchildren, Casandra, Anthony, Ricardo, Keyana, Natasha, and predeceased by grandson, Aaron Moore. She also leaves seven siblings, Priscilla Simpkins, Wilma Alston, Woodrow Padgett, Jr., Robert Padgett, Reginald Padgett, Janice McClure, Ronald Padgett and predeceased by her brother, Henry L. Padgett; longtime and dear friend, Joyce Ford and her son, Jamaal and many nephews and nieces.
Evelyn loved to cook, and her family and friends always enjoyed her delicious southern recipes. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino. Evelyn was a wonderful woman with a big heart. She loved her family dearly and spending time with them is what she cherished most.
Family and friends are invited to honor, remember and celebrate Nanny's life on Wednesday, June 13th at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 10am until Noon immediately followed by a Funeral Service at Noon. After cremation, burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
