WEST BOYLSTON
Everett J. Bowie, 93 of West Boylston, formerly of Braintree and Sanibel Island, FL. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22nd at Knollwood Nursing Center.
He leaves his wife and best friend of 40 Years, Virginia Claire (Patts) Bowie; nine children, Sharon Morgan of Lawrence, KS, Pamela Marrone of West Boylston, Joanne Woodgate of Kingston, Kathleen Owens of Greenfield, New Hampshire, Everett "Jay" Bowie of Plymouth, Steven Bowie of Port Orange, FL, Michael Bowie of West Boylston, Carolyn Bowie of Plymouth and John Bowie of Atlanta, GA; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren as well as 20 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol F. (Smith) Bowie in 1972 and great grandchild Emma Marrone in 2006 as well as four brothers and five sisters. Everett was born in East Braintree, son of William D. and Minerva A. (Towers) Bowie and served in the US Navy in WWII aboard the USS PC-1197 submarine chaser as Quartermaster First Class and after the war as a Merchant Marine before graduating from Tufts Dental School in 1951.
Dr. Bowie had a distinguished career as a Dentist and a Orthodontist in Braintree while raising his family in Hingham and North Scituate before retiring to Sanibel Island, FL in 1986 and later to West Boylston. He was an avid golfer, stamp collector and genealogist. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution having traced his ancestors to the French and Indian Wars and the American Revolution. He was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

There will be an hour of visitation on Monday, October 26 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at Fay Brothers Funeral Home at 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston followed by a Mass at 11:30AM Our Lady of Good Counsel. Burial to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
