Florence Petro

Worcester-Florence L. (Vasel) Petro, 88, passed away Friday, September 19 in Brookdale at Eddy Pond, Auburn.

Her husband of 58 years, Andrew R. Petro passed away in 2014. She leaves three sons, Gary Petro and his wife, Patty of No. Grafton, Paul Petro and his wife, Laurie of Hampton Beach, NH and Jon Petro of Cumberland, RI; a brother, Peter Vasal of Worcester; six grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle, Lindsey, Jessica, Maximillion and Gabe; three-great grandchildren, Katherine, James and Jordan; a sister-in-law, Dorothea Vasal of Worcester and nieces and nephews. A brother, Michael Vasal predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Naum and Konstandina (Bona) Petro and graduated from Commerce High School.

Florence worked alongside her husband Andrew and sons at the family business Acme Prepak Company for 48 years, before retiring. She was lifelong member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church and active in countless church activities and events. She was also the former church choir director and a member of the church woman’s guild. Florence enjoyed wintering in West Palm Beach and was a wonderful cook.

A Private Funeral Service will be held for her family at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Church. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Florence’s name to her church, a place she so loved.
