Listen to Obituary

Francis J. “Franny” Tambolleo, 75, passed away on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

He leaves behind his children, Nicholas Ferrie and his wife Erica of Oxford, Gina Army and her husband Patrick of Webster; four grandchildren, Cameron, Madison, Luca, and Giovanna, mother of his daughter and close friend, Tina Falish, his former wife and close friend Karen Rondinone, six siblings, Mary Marold & her partner Jack, Joseph and his wife Joy, Shirley Cobb, Rose Gallagher, Grace Crosby, Lucy Brodeur and her husband David, a brother-in-law Raymond Manion, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Francis was predeceased by his beloved parents, his long-time partner and companion of 29 years, Diane Papelian, brothers Anthony and John Tambolleo, and sisters Anna Renzoni and Theresa Manion.

Born in Worcester, Francis was the son of the late Philomena M. (Gonelli) and Frank J. Tambolleo. He was a graduate of West Boylston High School, Class of 1968, where he had a passion for boxing and doing the Iron Cross on the gym team. Friends often described him as being incredibly strong and one who never lost a fight. He was also known as the best male singer in his class, with his voice often compared to Elvis Presley. He also had a love for motorcycles, which he started riding at a young age. He then went on to attend trade school, where he learned the carpentry skills that would define much of his working life as a proud Union carpenter.

After retiring, Francis lived life on his own terms. He had a lifelong passion for horse racing and enjoyed traveling to different states to raise, train, and drive Standardbred horses, a hobby that brought him great pride and joy. Francis also enjoyed the thrill and excitement of the casino and through sports and horse betting.

Francis spent twelve years living in Florida, where he embraced the beach lifestyle he loved so much. He found comfort and peace while basking in the sun during happy hour, taking in the warmth and company around him. A man who never cared what others thought, Francis did things his way and always stayed true to himself.

He was a social butterfly who was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was funny, caring, generous and would help anybody in need. Above all else, Francis adored his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his world. His absence will be deeply felt and he will be missed by many.
