WORCESTER- Francis H. "Tom" Wheeler, Sr, 79 of 10 Knowlton Avenue, died Saturday, October 29 in Hospice Residence on Coes Pond after an illness. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Barbara D. (Steele) Wheeler, a son, Francis H. Wheeler, Jr. of Spencer, two daughters, Dorothy B. Borowski of Worcester and Mary Frances Schneiderham of Weymouth, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by seven brothers and a sister.

He was born in Worcester the son of William A. and Naomi M. (Adams) Wheeler and graduated from Boys Trade High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Wheeler was a truck driver for the City of Worcester Dept. of Public Works for 14 years, retiring in 1992. He previously worked for Nabisco, Co. in West Boylston for 20 years. He was a long time member of St. Peter's Church, a former member of Teamster Local%23170, 3rd Degree and life member of the Pope John Council, 4th Degree member of the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly, life member of Gallant American Legion Post %23462, and also the VFW Post %238263.

The funeral will be Wednesday, November 2 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial is in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 1 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Residence on Coes Pond, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
