WORCESTER: Fredarike Pantos, 85, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Gregorios G. Pantos who died in 1993.
She leaves three children Christos G. Pantos of Worcester, Eugenia (Genie) Pantos of Worcester, Maria Tzikas and her husband, Nick Tzikas of Worcester; four grandchildren whom she adored, Gregorios N. Tzikas and his wife Michelle, Gregorios C. Pantos, Eleni Tzikas and Nathan E. Snaras; two great-granddaughters Mariana Snaras and Ellie Tzikas; a sister Alexandra Athanasiou and her husband Evangelos of Worcester, nieces and nephews: Corinne Tsouvalos, Arthur Athanasiou, William Tsouvalos, Joanna Vangos and Kathleen Cronin; and many cousins in Greece. She was predeceased by her brother, Alex Tsouvalos and his wife Agnes.
Fredarike was born in Vavouri, Epirus Greece, daughter of Vasilios and Eugenia (Papaioanou) Tsouvalos and lived in Worcester since 1955.
She owned and operated the Gold Star Restaurant alongside her husband and family from 1979-1992 and was dedicated to her work. She believed in knowing customers by name, remembering their favorite orders, and always making room for one more at the table. Her kind and compassionate nature was evident to all.
Fredarike was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1987, and she lived a life defined not by her diagnosis, but by her strength, thoughtfulness, resilience, and unwavering love for others. She managed her condition with remarkable discipline and grace.
She loved spending time cooking and baking for her family, especially her grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Yiayia”, she made sure they did not go home hungry.Fredarike will be forever missed by her family and loved ones. She was the matriarch of the family and has left a tremendous void in their lives but her memory will live on into eternity.She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all doctors, nurses, caregivers at UMASS Hospital, Univ. Campus – 6 West and at Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation, for their compassionate care of Fredarike.
A Funeral service at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, with burial in Hope Cemetery, will be held privately.
