WORCESTER-Frederick J. Molloy, Jr., 67, passed away on Friday, May 26 surrounded by his wife and children after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Freddie was born in Worcester, MA on March 21, 1939 to Frederick J. and Stephanie (Menkalis) Molloy, Sr. Fred graduated from Millbury Memorial High School in 1957 and went on to serve four and a half years in the United States Air Force. Fred retired from Norton Company in 2000 after 30 years. He also worked at the DCU Center for 22 years.
He leaves his best friend and wife of 43 years, Patricia "Shirley" (Blanchette) Molloy and four children, Leah Corbin and her husband Scott Corbin, Elizabeth "Betty" Mandella Weissman and her husband Randy Weissman, Donna McIntyre all of Worcester, and a son, Michael Gardner of Dudley. A son Stephen "Tates" Gardner predeceased him in 1978. Fred also leaves behind his eight grandchildren who he helped nurture and raise, Jamie, Seth and Joel Mandella, David Weissman, Patrick and Rebecca McIntyre, Katie and Kevin Gardner, along with four great grandchildren, a brother, Dennis Molloy and his wife Jeanne, a niece Christine McDevitt and a nephew Dennis Molloy of Feeding Hills, MA.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 31, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in the Cathedral of St. Paul, 15 Chatham Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 30 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to UMASS Memorial Home Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worc., MA 01605.
