George T. Cappoli

September 19, 1949 — March 3, 2024

George T. Cappoli, 74, of North Oxford, MA passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on March 3. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Mary R. Herman-Cappoli; his daughter, Olivia J. Cappoli; his son, Zachary M. Cappoli; his brother, Anthony Cappoli; his brother-in-law, Michael F. Herman; several nieces and nephews, and his loyal companion, Tess. He was pre-deceased by his brother and best friend, Domenic Cappoli.

The son of Gregorio “George” Cappoli and Marie Reilly, George grew up in his family’s triple-decker home on Worcester’s St. Anne’s Hill, loving the tightly-knit Italian neighborhood his grandparents helped to establish. He graduated from the former Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, where he helped lead the school to their best record on the basketball court. He also attended the New England School of Accounting. George worked for 35 years for Builders Systems Inc., Auburn, serving as the company’s Vice President, and retiring in 2022.

Beyond all else, George was devoted to his family and friends. He lived life with a positive spirit, a mischievous sense of humor, and a helping hand always extended to those who needed it. He took great pride in his work, using his gifted hands, his sharp mind and his creative ingenuity to restore many historical structures and commercial buildings in and around Worcester County.

George enjoyed the simple pleasures in life — the sweet swing of a golf club, making a child giggle, time spent on the beaches and bike trails of Cape Cod, and tooling around in his tractor on the land surrounding the home he built for his family. He was forever quick with a joke and a kind word.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10 in the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A visiting hour will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 11 with a short service at 11 a.m., followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
