George J. Smalanskas, 87, of Worcester passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in UMASS Memorial Hospital.
His wife, Estelle G. (Larkham) Smalanskas passed away in 1997. He leaves six children, Cathi A. Bartolini and her companion, Robert Parente of Southborough, James G. Smalanskas and his wife, Miriam of Wayland, George J. Smalanskas and his wife, Debra of Holden, John F. Smalanskas and his wife, Sally of Holden, Richard A. Smalanskas and his wife, Martha of Harvard and Lisa M. Ford and her husband, John of Sutton. He leaves 17 grandchildren whom he was very proud, as well as numerous great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by Agnes Kompel, Frederick Smalanskas and Marion McGovern and is survived by his sister, Eileen Daubney. He was born in Worcester, son of George and Helen (Polaski) Smalanskas and graduated from Fitchburg State College and received his Master's Degree from Clark University.
George was an Industrial Arts Teacher as well as a Guidance Teacher at West Boylston High School for many years. One of his joys in life was his sailboat and his beach house.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 16th at 11AM in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
