Worcester- Gerald H. Gervais, 70, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home.
He was born in Worcester on November 7, 1949 the son of the late Marcel and Gladys Mae (Connor) Gervais.
Gerry (Grampa) will be forever loved and missed by his wife and best friend, Jane (Nedoroscik) Gervais, with whom he would have celebrated 46 years of marriage in February; his son, Stephen Gervais, his beautiful wife Kellie and their adoring son Jackson.
Life changed when Jackson was born, and Gerry became a proud grandfather. Gerry and Jack planted vegetable gardens and they loved to bake those delicious cinnamon rolls.
Gerry has a sister Paulette, along with an Uncle, Aunts, and many cousins.
Gerry's extended family includes his father-in-law, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all of whom he loved and who loved him.
Gerry was raised in Worcester and graduated from South High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and where he proudly served his country while stationed at Fort Ord, CA.
Gerry became an employee of Norton Company in 1973 where he worked for the next 41 years as a machinist and calibration technician. Gerry was known as the jack of all trades and the go to person when you needed something done at work.
Gerry liked to fish which he and Stephen later enjoyed doing together. Times spent with Stephen were some of the happiest moments in his life. Gerry liked to travel which included family and friend vacations at Cape Cod, Hawaii, and Las Vegas.
After marrying Jane, his father in law Stephen gave him a few golf lessons and the rest is history. Gerry was a member of Pine Ridge Country Club in Oxford with his buddies from Norton's. He played in various golf benefits and golf leagues including the Knights of Columbus. Gerry was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council 88. His weekly cribbage league games were epic. He had a passion for photography; a talent passed down from his father and grandfather, and was also a skilled and talented woodworker. He built various items for friends and family including curio cabinets, and even a rocking horse for his beloved grandson, Jack. Gerry also enjoyed cooking and hosting family and friend get together.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate a Celebration of Gerry's life on Saturday, February 1st from 10:00am until 1:00 PM at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
