Spencer- Gerald J. Sullivan, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2019 at Knollwood Nursing Center.
He was born in Worcester on November 11, 1937 a son of the late Paul H. and Annette L. (Adams) Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan graduated from South High School and later attend Worcester Junior College before proudly serving his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
For many years he was employed as a manager at the former Buckley Insurance Company. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in many golf tournaments through the years. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. For a period of time, he and his wife relocated to Saint Cloud, Florida before returning to Worcester.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Theresa E. (Fontaine) Sullivan; a son, Gerald J. Sullivan, Jr., and his wife, Margaret of Brookfield; his siblings, Donald Sullivan and his wife, Nancy of Florida and Laura Dumas of Dudley; two grandchildren, Jimmy Joyce and Alycia Bisson; a sister in law and brother in law, Cecile and Gerald Sykes of Worcester, and two sisters in law, Gertrude D'Olimpio and Maryanne Brackett, both of Worcester.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Rita Madder, Richard Sullivan and Carol Bryson.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Thursday, August 8th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, August 9th at St. Peter's Church, 929 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
