Gertrude T. Roach

January 3, 1916 — April 8, 2011

WORCESTER-Gertrude T. (Horton) Roach, 95, passed away peacefully after an illness at the Coleman House Senior Care Residence, Northborough. Gertrude was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Martin and Bridget (Burke) Horton. She is survived by a son Michael, his wife Eileen and grandson Matthew of Worcester. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Vincent; sisters Margaret, Catherine, Eleanor, Louise and brothers John and Martin.

Gertrude was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy class of 1934. She was an assistant supervisor at the Division of Unemployment Security. She also worked during WW II at Harrington & Richardson Co. Gertrude enjoyed crocheting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She was a long time member of St. Peter's Parish and the Guild of Our Lady of Providence.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Coleman House and to Hospice for their wonderful care of Gertrude.

A visiting hour will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Department of Birth Defects at Children's Hospital Boston, in memory of Gertrude Roach.
