WORCESTER-Gertrude V. (Cummiskey) Sullivan, 91, formerly of 39 First Street, died Saturday, March 18 in the Odd Fellows Home, after an illness. Her husband Francis K. Sullivan died in 1988. Gertrude was predeceased by three brothers, Francis Cummiskey, James Cummiskey, and Fr. David R. Cummiskey S.J. formerly of Boston College and two sisters; Eleanor O'Donoghue and M. Agnes Flynn of Worcester. She leaves several nephews and nieces and their children. She was born in1914 in Worcester, daughter of John J. and Ellen A. (Sullivan) Cummiskey and graduated in 1932 from St. Peter's High School and attended Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and a secretarial school.
Gertrude was a secretary at Boston College High School and lived in West Roxbury for over 20 years on Spring St., moving to Worcester in the 1980's. Aunt Gert was a member of St. Peter's Church, volunteered for several charitable groups and served as a Eucharistic Minister
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 21 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A calling period will be held from 8:45 - 9:30 the morning of the funeral in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mercy Center, 25 W.
