Gladys R. Maghakian

WORCESTER-Gladys (Alexanian) Maghakian, 94, of Worcester, passed away December 10 in the Jewish Healthcare Center surrounded by her family. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Ira Maghakian in 1969. She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Ovian and her husband Michael of Boynton Beach, FL; three sisters, Florence Eknoian, Alice Marsoobian and Elsie Frankian, all of Worcester; two grandsons, Scott Ovian and his wife Cory of Palm City, FL and Kevin Ovian and his wife Julie of Madison, CT. She also leaves five great grandchildren, Margaret, John and Meredith Ovian of Madison, CT and Kaitlyn and Dustin Ovian of Palm City, FL; several nephews and nieces.
Gladys was a member of the Armenian Church of the Martyrs for many years, working diligently on their behalf through the "Friendly Circle" organization. No cooking or baking project was too large for her abilities in the kitchen for her church or her family. She was an ardent seamstress and so accomplished in needlepoint and knitting. The family wishes to thank the doctor, nurses and caretakers of the Jewish Family Healthcare for the wonderful care that Gladys received.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 14, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester with a funeral service at 11AM in Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church Street, Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 13 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home with a Dahngark Service at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worc., MA 01609 or the the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
