Gloria A. (LaRocque) Blunt, 77, Auburn, formerly of Worcester and Rutland, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018 with her family by her side after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Gloria graduated from Commerce High School and attended the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.
On Halloween 1959, at the age of 18, she married Tom, her childhood sweetheart and roller-skating partner. Tom and Gloria roller-skated competitively for many years and won several state and national championships before they settled down to raise their family. In later years she worked at area banks and her last position was with the Worcester Probate Court.
Gloria was a former member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks and was member-in-charge of the Worcester Elks Wednesday Bingo for more than 10 years. Gloria was named Elk of the Year in 2006. Gloria was a people-person and received many commendations for her charitable work from the City of Worcester. Gloria was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edgar J. and Melvina (Muise) LaRocque.
Gloria leaves her husband of nearly 60 years, Thomas. She also leaves her daughter, Marci E. Toohil and her husband, Robert of Rutland, her son, Christopher and his wife, Debbie of Gainesville, Georgia. She also leaves five grandchildren, Jonathan Allain, Stephen Allain, Michael Baron, Allison Blunt and Andrew Blunt; as well as three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Jr. and a daughter, Wendi Baron Willette.
Family and friends are invited to honor, remember and celebrate Gloria's life during visiting ours on Wednesday, November 28 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, immediately followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery and will be private.
