E. Grace (Holt) Butkus, 91, of Worcester died Wednesday, July 19, at the Christopher House.
She leaves her husband of 65 years, Anthony Butkus; four children, Anthony K. Butkus and his wife Nancy M. Butkus of Worcester, Karen E. Gearin and her husband William F. Gearin of Paxton, Dianne J. Farrell and her companion Philip Lee of Southborough, and Rosemary E. McClune and her husband James McClune of Andover; six grandchildren, Daniel and Michael Butkus, Lynn Farrell, Jennifer Gold, Matthew McClune and Katie Stanton; a great grandson, Jacob Gold; a niece, Cathie Lessard. A brother, Master Sergeant John S. Holt, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John S. and Catherine E. (Broderick) Holt and graduated from Commerce High School.
Grace was a bookkeeper for Northbridge Furniture Company in Worcester, for many years, before retiring. She was a member and lector at St. Catherine of Sweden Church, volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital and was active in the Sacred Heart Women’s Sodality. She spent many summers at Swifts Beach in Wareham and was an artist and enjoyed painting.
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 22, from Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St. with a Mass at 10AM in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday, July 21, from 6 to 8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave., Worcester, 01607.
