Grace Marie (Ford) O’Gara, 90, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2024 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of John (Jack) H. O’Gara whom she was married for over 61 years until his passing in 2017.
She was born in 1933 in Worcester to the late Michael and Grace (Flanagan) Ford and spent her entire life in the house she was born. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Daniel and sister-in-law Virginia Ford, her in-laws T. Gleeson and Ethel O’Gara, a sister-in-law Mary Mahan and a brother-in-law Edward O’Gara.
Grace leaves behind two daughters Dorothy Gomez of Indianapolis, IN, and Mary Tisdell and her husband Michael, of Worcester; two sons, John O'Gara and his wife Coleen of Sterling Heights, MI and Michael O'Gara, of Worcester; 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Caitlin, Sean, Tara Lynn, Olivia, Gavin, Michael, Samantha, Johnathan and Grace. She also leaves behind six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Grace graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1951. After working for a time for State Mutual, she began a long career as a stay-at-home mom and grandmother. She was an avid reader of all types of books, a great cook, a dedicated bargain hunter, searching for treasures across the city. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Grace was truly the family Matriarch and we will miss the constant guidance, advice, and her caring nature that she provided all.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street on Friday, May 3, at 10:30 AM. All who have been touched in some way, shape, or form by our mother are invited to come share in her memory. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester..
