Grace Sophia (Lindberg) Platts, formerly of 53 Butler St., Worcester, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Auburn Life Care Center, Auburn, MA.
Grace was born in Worcester on November 24, 1912, the daughter of Elvira and Charles Lindberg. She leaves her daughter, Barbara L., wife of Westell C. Kirk of Worcester, her son, Carl A. Platts and his former wife, Priscilla A. Platts, both of Worcester; five grandchildren, Robert W. Kirk of Princeton, Richard C. Kirk of Southbridge, Debra L. Falkengren of Auburn, Zachary A. and Ryan A. Platts, both of Worcester; and five great-granddaughters, Jaclyn, Tori and Laura Kirk and Kristen and Katie Falkengren; and many nieces and nephews. Grace's husband, Alfred Platts, died in December 1998. A sister, Gladys Stohlberg, and a brother, Wallace Lindberg predeceased her.
Grace attended Worcester Public Schools. She was a life-long member of the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church and also a member of the United Methodist Women's Society at the church. She was an avid Red Sox fan. Grace was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Her family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Auburn Life Care for the care given to Grace during her recent illness.
A visiting hour will be held Sat. Jan. 19, at 9:00 a.m. at the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St., Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quinsigamond United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
