WORCESTER: Gregory W. Shevchuk, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. Vincent's Hospital after an illness.

   He leaves his loving wife of 43 years, Gwendolyn (Gwennie) S. (Humphrey) Shevchuk, his beloved dog Modelo Bean, a sister Rosemarie Wilson-Braswell and her husband Allen of Spokane, WA, sisters-in-law; Bonnie Patterson and her husband Dick of Charlestown, R.I. and Cheryl Svens of Worcester, nieces; Robin Kemp and her husband Myles, Kristin Svens, Kerri Deely and her husband John, Andrea Anderson and her husband Dave, Megan Cook, Jillian Nadeau and Jada Booker, nephews; Dr. Robert Duprey, Jr., Thomas E. Duprey and his wife Sarah, Steven Duprey and his wife Anne Maria, Brian Patterson and his wife Maria, Don P. Patterson and his wife Sarah, Scott P. Patterson and his wife Jill, Charlie Cheng and his wife Helen, and Mike Gagne, godson Derek Soboleski, dear cousin; Wayne Polaski, longtime friends; Patrick Culhane, Tom and Cindy Dubay, Gary and Cheryl Gagne, and Norman Grammatic, and several other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles of the Duprey, Polaski, Soucy and Soboleski families.

   Gregory was born in Boston, the son of Wasel and Florianne (Soucy) Shevchuk.  He was an electronics technician for many years at AstraZeneca before retiring.  He served his country in the United States Army, working on the HAWK guided missile system.  He enjoyed photography, fishing, ice fishing, taking walks, canoeing, music, playing his harmonica and spending time in the "Shanty" with Gwennie and Modelo.  He was a Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and loved his '93 Fatboy, “Mary”.

  A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 with visitation from 1:00-3:00 PM in Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester followed by a service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
