Guillaume "Papa Guy" Paul, 100, passed away on Sunday, December 27 in Worcester, MA at the home of his daughter, Rose Graziella, surrounded by family and friends.
Guillaume "Papa Guy" Paul, was born on July 5, 1920 to Augustin Foreste Paul and Almélise Pierre. He is survived by his loving children, J.M Francois Xavier Paul, Jacques Paul, Rose Grazielle Boursiquot and Maire Claire-Helene Dauphin; his grandchildren Roberto Appolon, Claire Belinda Paul Poitevien, Naïka Paul, Roger Gaetan Paul, Cedrick J. Boursiquot, Christelle Myriame Hayles (formerly Boursiquot), Stephanie Appolon, Giovanni Paul, Amy-Claire Dauphin and Walker Dauphin Jr.; his great-grandchildren Imani Elicia Appolon, Isaiah Justin Appolon and Zara Paul; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After receiving his degree in Education, Guillaume started his career as a teacher and would ultimately end up as the Superintendent/Director of several locales in Grand'Anse, Haiti. He devoted 24 years of his life to the pursuit of education and the advancement of intelligence and character in young children. Ever the advocate for education, he ensured that his children and those within the neighborhood engaged in productive activities that fostered and strengthened their mental fortitude - from playwriting and acting to mathematics to sewing and photography, Guillaume encouraged his family and friends to consistently strive for greatness. Guillaume believed in a well-rounded lifestyle and sought the same for his family, his neighborhood, and those he taught.
After his retirement, Papa Guy, as he affectionally came to be known, devoted more time to his family. He invested his time in helping raise all his grandchildren, as well as, the children of many other relatives, and did this all with a spirit of consistency, love and kindness. If his grandchildren are multilingual and high performing, a large portion of that can be attributed to their time spent with Papa Guy.
Guillaume had many interests and hobbies. First and foremost, he was a fervent servant of the Lord, he was an avid gardener and photographer and a wonderful storyteller and family historian. He was a pianist who adored music and could often be spotted playing the piano, especially before the Sabbath. He would go on to help found the Novelle Arche Haitian Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Worcester, MA where he served as a Deacon for years.
Papa's Guy's passing has left a void that cannot be filled, however, we all look forward to the day in which we can reunite with the Great Patriarch of the family.
We would like to thank everyone for joining our family to celebrate the incredible life of a beloved father, brother, grandfather, friend, and family patriarch.
