Worcester - Gurlie Olivia (Anderson) Anderson, 97, passed away Wednesday, February 12 at Care One in Millbury.
She was born in Millbury, daughter of Axel G. and Anny E. (Backman) Anderson. Her husband, Frank R. Anderson, passed away in 2014. She leaves her three children, Russell J. Anderson of Worcester, Ronald A. Anderson and his wife, Ericka of Maineville, OH and Christine M. Allen-Start and her husband, Philip C. Start of Cherry Valley; her grandchildren, Scott R. Allen and his wife, Carrianne of Summerville, NC, Matthew C. Allen and his wife, Nicole D. of East Brookfield, Elizabeth H., Ashley M., Rachel O. and Alissa E. Anderson of Maineville, OH; her great granddaughters: Laura R. and Elizabeth R. Allen of Summerville, SC, Kaitlyn N. and Bridget K. Allen of East Brookfield; step great-grandson, Jared A. Toth of San Diego, CA and many nephews, nieces, and in-laws, and cousins in Sweden. She was predeceased by a sister, Marion L. Schonbeck, and brothers, Alvin R. Anderson, Herbert G. Anderson, and Carl R. Anderson.
Gurlie attended schools in Charlton and Worcester. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, doing crafts, baking, gardening, reading, and working on her numerous photo albums. She was a life-long member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Worcester.
Her family would like to express our sincere thanks to CareOne at Millbury for the kindness and care given to Gurlie for almost three years. Also, thank you to Ascend Hospice for their tender care for the last few months.
There are no calling hours, and the funeral is private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at All Faith's Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gurlie's memory to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester, MA 01607 or Ascend Hospice, 100 Locke Dr., Marlborough, MA 01752.
