WORCESTER-Hagob “Jacob” Donikian, 74, passed away on February 18th, 2024 from complications of dementia at Lutheran Rehab. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Beirut on October 4, 1949, Jacob's life was a testament to persistence, entrepreneurship, family and love. Jacob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 24 years, Anahid "Annie" Nalbandian, whom he shared a deep love with. Annie was laid to rest in 2004 after a long battle with cancer. Despite this loss, he remained a steadfast provider, focusing on the more honorable things in life.
He is survived by his children - Dr. Lucie Donikian, Rosalyn Donikian-Boufawaz, and Johann Donikian, and their significant others - Sarkes Abbas, Mark Boufawaz, and Gabrayel Gentile; his grandchildren, Dihana, Anna, Edward, Ani, Enzo, Monte, Anya, and an expecting newborn grandson this spring, who were all a source of great joy for him. He is also survived by his sister, Noyemzar Ghazarossian, and many members of his extended family, including his adored cousin Elizabeth Bassmajian.
In his professional life, Jacob exhibited a strong work ethic, providing for his family with unwavering dedication. He was a polymath, excelling as a brilliant engineer, electrician, and mechanic. Jacob's hands and mind were skilled at both building and fixing. In his later years, Jacob's expertise extended to his adeptness showcased not only by his practical skills but also his keen sense of negotiation and business in various avenues.
Jacob's impact on the lives of those who knew him will be remembered in their hearts forever. A devoted husband, father, and uncle Jacob cherished moments around the dinner table. He found joy in cooking for his family, a passion that extended to anyone he hosted in his home and beyond. Jacob found solace in tending to his magnificent garden. He had a deep appreciation for the classics in music, cars, nature, good food, and good conversation in politics. His witty, sarcastic, and philosophical nature infused his thoughts, goals, and legacy with a unique charm that will be fondly remembered.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1st at 10:00 am in The Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church at 635 Grove St, Worcester, Massachusetts. The funeral services will be held immediately after at 11:00 am. The burial will be followed at Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the church. The family expresses gratitude for the support, condolences, and shared memories during this difficult time.
