LUNENBURG-On April 14, 2021, Hegina (Setoyan) Tirpan, passed away at 83 years of age. Hegina, known to most as simply "Yaya", was born on May 5, 1937 in a village in Turkey named Kangal. She was one of six children, and in her youth enjoyed singing and dancing with her mother and siblings in their small home, where she learned to sew and knit, a skill she mastered beautifully throughout her life. Her fondest memories and favorite place on earth was her beach house in Cape Cod, where she spent summers with her family cooking delicious Armenian food, renovating the home, listening to Turkish cassette tapes, and enjoying the ocean.
She was dearly loved by her husband Murat, three children, Ani, Oves, and Julie, and grandchildren, Taline, David, Eric, Michael, Nikolas, and Tatiana. She played an integral role in raising three generations of children and had eleven great grandchildren.
She will be sorely missed, and remembered for her incredibly nurturing but fierce spirit, sharp wit, sense of humor, and for her unparalleled strength and dedication to her family.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
