WEST BOYLSTON
Heidi E. Kvinge, 56, of West Boylston died Wednesday, May 12 at home, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 27 years, Donald M. DeMarsh; two children, Benjamin DeMarsh and Gretchen DeMarsh both of West Boylston; her parents, Rev. Stanley M. and Goldie (Opgrand) Kvinge of Sun City, AZ; a brother, Nathan Kvinge and his wife Debbie of Houston, TX and nieces Abby and Grace Kvinge of Houston, TX. She was born in Yankton, SD and raised in Fargo, ND and graduated from, Fargo High School, the University of North Dakota and received her Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota in 1983.
Heidi was a software manger for 17 years with the Massachusetts Microprocessor Design Center, which first began with the creation of Digital, then Compaq and the groups final transition was to Intel.
She was a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Heidi did volunteer work for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology on the Grace Hopper conference for 5 years. Heidi was instrumental in the growth of the Grace Hopper conference and its international mission of promoting the role of women in technology, serving on committees, and as the Program Committee chair in 2008, and as the General Chair in 2009. The Anita Borg Institute honored Heidi Wednesday night at the 2010 Women of Vision Awards Banquet for her work. She will also be honored at the Grace Hopper Conference in September of this year.
Heidi was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5, at 11 AM in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden. A Private Burial will be held in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
